Frequently Asked Questions
How many books do you have out?
Five. The first two books of my fantasy series The One and the Other are out: The One-Sided Coin and The Damned Ones. I've also published two poetry chapbooks titled Sensuality. and Leftover Thoughts along with a full-length poetry collection Where Have We Come From, Where Are We Going?
Where did you get the concept for The One and the Other Series (TOATO)?
It came from a lot of different places, and this idea is so old I honestly can't remember what initially inspired. I do know that the Ghost is loosely inspired by the black smoke monster in Lost and it's called the Ghost because of the song "All That I'm Living For" by Evanescence. I had this idea in mind for years before I started writing it, so I really don't remember how I came up with all of it.
How long did it take you to write The One-Sided Coin?
5 years.
How many books will be in the series?
There will be five main books and a prequel in-between each main book, so nine in total. It's a lot!
What are you working on right now?
I'm finished with the majority of edits for my next book in the series--The Metal Flower. It needs another pass before line editing, proofreading, and publication. However, I want to have first drafts written for the next two books in the series before I publish it so I ensure I can change whatever I want to in TMF to better set up those books. Those books are prequel #2 The Cursed Sisters and main book #3 The Unfound World.
When will your next book come out?
I'm hoping to publish The Metal Flower late 2026. Please consider subscribing to my email list for updates.
Can you critique my poetry?
Sorry, I do not have the time.
What is your stance on AI?
I don't use it in any of my creative work because I actually enjoy the act of creating and I don't like how the generative AI art models were created by stealing artists' work. I am also deeply concerned about its environmental impact especially on vulnerable communities as they have their water siphoned to be used to cool off data centers. I am not fully anti-AI as I do think it can be a useful tool for small things (like video editing, research, some translation) but I cannot support it in its current form.
What is your poetry about?
I write about anything that comes to mind--my life, faith, history, politics, language, art, etc. I write both free verse and form.
Will you ever traditionally publish?
As of now I have no plan to.
How can I get your most recent writing updates?
I post most regularly on my Instagram and Tiktok, but if you join my email list, you'll get title/cover reveals and excerpts sooner than anyone else.
